ABOUT ME

Barbara Ellen Sorensen is former senior editor and writer for Winds of Change, the flagship magazine of the American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES). In 2009, she was made a Sequoyah Fellow of AISES for her years of promoting Native representation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. She has freelanced for The Tribal College Journal and edited Cultural Survival Quarterly.  Barbara's master degree in creative writing is from Regis University, Denver.  Her undergrad degree in English is from the University of Iowa.

Barbara’s poetry chapbook, Song from the Deep Middle Brain (Main Street Rag, 2010), was a finalist in the 2011 Colorado Book Awards. Her poetry has appeared in numerous journals, both print and online.  Full-length books of poetry include Compositions of the Dead Playing Flutes (Able Muse Press, 2013), and Mary's River (Kelsay Books, 2018).
